Prekindergarten Expansion

I don't believe we can overstate the importance of providing a strong foundation for our youngest learners. Early care and education has been a long-standing priority throughout my time on the board. Those priorities are reflected in my advocacy at the state in my former role as Board president, testifying on the recommendations of the Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education back in 2019. The legislation was eventually passed as the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future in 2021. At the local level, my support has translated to funding in every operating budget since my time in office. Leveling the playing field ensures equitable outcomes for every student.
